The Institute of Biomaterial Science in Teltow of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht and Berlin Brandenburg Centre for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT) invite applications for a Postdoc (m/f/d) High Throughput Polymer Synthesis. This is initially a 2-years fixed term contract.
The place of employment is Teltow (near Berlin, Germany).
Within this project we seek to develop polymer-based libraries. You are responsible for the design, synthesis and characterization of oligomers and polymers from various monomers applying various polymerization techniques like ring-opening polymerization, RAFT, etc. in an automated setup. Within the project you will implement high-throughput characterization methods. You have the opportunity actively participate in the publication of the results, preparation of patents, and in attracting additional funding.
You have PhD in organic chemistry or macromolecular sciences, chemical or polymer engineering, and a strong background in polymer synthesis and characterization. You have already gained experience in the systematic design, synthesis and characterization of polymers to derive structure-function relationships as documented by a significant number of scientific publications. Additional knowledge in robotic synthesis or the usage of design of experiment software is highly welcome; knowledge in computer programming languages is an asset. You are eager to collaborate with material and computer scientists as well as researchers from other disciplines, and to transfer your ideas to applications based research.
- multinational work environment with ca. 1000 colleagues
